Who Wants To Rock Out In The Pearl Jam Suite?
Alex does, that’s for sure! She shredded this guitar while we were staying in Seattle – in a suite that Pearl Jam stayed in as well!
Here’s the story to excite all music fans!
The Edgewater is a 223-room hotel in Seattle, Washington, located on the Central Waterfront on a pier over Elliott Bay – it has a woodsy, northwest vibe inside…it’s the only over-water, and water-front hotel in the city. The hotel used to advertise that you could “fish from your room.”
Need proof? How about THIS?
The Edgewater is famous for hosting The Beatles when they visited Seattle in 1964 at the height of Beatlemania – and yes, they fished from their hotel suite!
More on The Fab Four in a minute, but The Edgewater loved all kinds of Musical Artists over the years, including a band who got their start in the city!
Yes, we stayed in a suite that paid tribute to:
The Pearl Jam Suite!
That’s right, The Edgewater has a suite that happens to be the very room where the band stayed when in town – probably not all in a single room, but you get the idea…
Time to check into the Pearl Jam Suite – it has a room number, but there is a more entertaining way to announce you’ve arrives as well:
Enter The Pearl Jam Suite!
Once inside, you notice there is Pearl Jam EVERYWHERE, including a reference to the band’s previous name before Eddie Vedder joined:
Here’s how the Edgewater describes the room:
“Rest your head on a pillow made of awesome. We partnered with Pearl Jam and their fan club to design the ultimate band inspired suite. With authentic concert memorabilia lining the walls, industrial grunge-inspired décor, in-room guitar, amp and vinyl record player, this space is a Seattle rock legend’s dream.”
Yes, there’s a real electric Guitar plugged in to a Marshall Amp, and we had to both do some posing:
As you can see, Alex shared my shot on Instagram, but this is the world premiere of her “Rock God” pose!
When she saw this she said to me, and I quote:
“See if there is some app on your phone for when you check into a hotel and there’s an electric guitar in your room so it will teach you how to play a song!”
Sadly, nothing popped under that title.
The walls are also covered with lots of concert posters, vintage set lists handwritten by Eddie himself, and other memorabilia to satisfy the Pearl Jam fan in all of us!
Yes, they also have a record player and a stack of Pearl Jam albums to play as well! Here’s the view from he room, both and night and in the morning:
We loved staying in the room, playing the albums and the guitar well into the night, and waking up to see our Seagull friend outside on our deck…and time now to remind everyone just how good the band is, still making music today!
Here is their powerful debut video, “Jeremy.”
I love the band, and Alex and I just watched the documentary “Pearl Jam 20” again recently…terrific!
As I said earlier, The Beatles fished from the Edgewater, and now the hotel has created a Beatles Suite as well!
The Beatles Suite!
Here’s how they describe it:
“Picture yourself in a room on the water, with fab four décor and Seattle skies. The all new Beatles Suite is a modern rendition of Beatlemania design. The new space features Brit rock inspired furnishings, memorabilia shelves, famous photography, lyrical art and the everlasting energy of the group’s presence.”
Who knows if Ringo ever caught a fish, but the band also did a photo shoot with Muhammad Ali once that was hilarious:

FILE – In this Feb. 18, 1964 file photo, boxer Cassius Clay lifts Beatles member Ringo Starr while the singers visited Clay’s camp in Miami Beach, Fla. Others from left are Paul McCartney, George Harrison and John Lennon. A few days earlier the British musicians had appeared for the first time on the Ed Sullivan Show. A week later, Clay would beat Sonny Liston and go on to even greater things as Muhammad Ali. (AP Photo)
