A Sea Of Cortez Fish Convention!

Yes, this is how many fish you have surrounding you when you snorkel of the coast of Cabo San Lucas….because these “Cabo” fish love to eat!

My daughter Jessica and I spent a few days in Cabo recently – I’ve posted other stories already, and those links are at the end of this story in case you missed them – but on this day we were headed out to snorkel, thanks to the incredible company Cabo-Adventures, which loaded us up on a boat and took us to this gorgeous cove:

It took only a few minutes to don our masks and fins and jump into the water, which was cool and relaxing in the eighty degree December sun – and as you can see, no one warned me about my hair before they took this picture:

The Cabo-Adventures Photographer jumped in the water with us, and took these great shots of us snorkeling, as well as the sights around us:

As you can see from above, there are fish everywhere here – hundreds and hundreds of fish that swim right up to you and stare in your face – you can literally touch them…which made this an incredible snorkeling adventure:

The next day, we went on a sailboat cruise and they dropped Anchor in this cove again, and Jessica did some more snorkeling, and then we discovered the reason fish are everywhere around you: they want to be fed!

You see, it’s easy to get a crowd here – just toss them some food – in this case, a dinner roll! Here is a sneak peek at what happens:

It’s hilarious just how ravenous these fish are – imagine if they were Piranha! But they don’t bite, they just swim all around you waiting for food, and here is what happens when you toss crackers and bread into the water from the boat – but first, this as a bonus:

Yes, watch the video and see me capture this guy doing a headstand on his paddle board because – well, who knows why? Enjoy:

As you can see, the fish literally come out of the water to get fed – it was a great way to end a day of snorkeling – again, the people at Cabo-Adventures are terrific, the best way to have a Cabo adventure…they were also the group behind this:

Yes, they came across eight Humpback Whales as well, which we travelled with for a few minutes, see the video here:

Let me know if you’ve snorkeled in the Sea of Cortez!
