Time For Some Live Tears For Fears!
There is nothing better than a live performance: the energy of the crowd, the musicianship onstage – here is another great example: Roland Orzabal and Curt Smith, Tears For Fears, playing all of their hits to a sold-out Staples Center crowd in Los Angeles in September!
My wife and I saw the band perform with Daryl Hall & John Oates, and the reviews stated the obvious: they sounded amazing!
My wife remarked that she forgot just how many great songs they had, such as the song they opened with, “Everybody Wants To Rule The World.” Here’s how great they sounded:
That classic song came from their second album “Songs from the Big Chair”, released in 1985, which was a worldwide smash. It was number one on the US Billboard 200 chart, and “Rule” won the Brit Award for Best British Single in 1986.
As you heard, they sound perfect. Not only that, but Curt Smith and especially Roland Orzabal looked like they were having a blast…as evidenced by the incredibly great vocal for “Mad World”, the iconic hit from their debut album, “The Hurting”, which was released in 1983, and went to #1 in the UK.
Here is their live performance of the song:
Roland and Curt broke up after the release of their third album, the masterpiece “Sowing The Seeds Of Love”…while Orzabal continues to record under the TFF name, Curt Smith released solo music.
They got back together and released a new album in 2004, and have been performing and writing together since then.
Now, time to listen to the pop rock majesty of “Sowing The Seeds Of Love”:
The band played for ninety minutes, a nonstop collection of great songs and one cover: Radiohead’s “Creep”, which they also nailed.
Special mention must be made of the backup singer, who was due to be induced two days after the show, but still gave a great performance!
If you love what you have heard, the band is playing London’s Royal Albert Hall on Oct. 27, 2017.
There is also new greatest hits package called “Rule The World” coming soon, and it will include two new songs!

Tears For Fears played in concert with Daryl Hall & John Oates, who also gave a spirited performance, and it reminded me of some of their best “album tracks”…check it out here:
Bravo to Roland Orzabal and Curt Smith for their spirited, flawless performance!
