Legendary Character Actor Joe Spinell Is A “Fanatic!”

“The Last Horror Film” is a great low-budget cult film that was also known as “Fanatic” – a 1982 horror film starring the great character Actor Joe Spinell and iconic sex kitten Caroline Munro.

Yes, Caroline is sporting a VERY early 80’s hairstyle, and yes, it is several different colors at the same time!

The director, David Winters, filmed on location at the Cannes Film Festival. Check out the trailer:

Joe Spinell plays a New York City taxi driver who is obsessed with the international cult actress Jana Bates – played by the great Actress Caroline Munro.

Joe Spinell was a great character Actor, with roles in classic movies like “The Godfather”, as one of Michael Corleone’s hit men.

Spinell acted in dozens of great films. He chewed out a young Travis Bickle in “Taxi Driver”, and he was Rocky Balboa’s first boss in “Rocky”.

“The Last Horror Film” was Spinell and Munro’s third time working together, after “Starcrash” from 1978 and “Maniac” in 1980.

Spinell fantasizes about becoming a great Director, so he follows Munro to the Cannes Film Festival, where she is promoting her new film “Scream.”

What is fascinating to watch are all of the shots of official 1981 film festival activities, with recognizable stars walking through the festival – of course, this film was shot guerrilla style without permits!

“The Last Horror Film” isn’t an award-winning movie, but it’s a unique low-budget horror film and character study, and worth checking out – the entire creative team gave it their all and told a unique story…
