Time To Meet A “Supermensch!”
Here is one of the most entertaining entertainment documentaries I’ve seen – and a terrific inside look at Hollywood – and Hollywood excess – it’s the classic story of Shep Gordon, who did indeed wear this T-shirt while managing the group Alice Cooper:
Mike Myers Tells The Story!
In his directorial debut, Mike Myers tells this fascinating story of the astounding career of the ultimate Hollywood insider, Shep Gordon! Here is the trailer:
Myers takes advantage of a ton of great archival footage PLUS great new interviews with a ton of celebrities who worked with Gordon!
The Making Of A “Supermensch!”
Shep Gordon fell into music management by chance after moving to LA after graduating from college in the late 60’s. He immediately became friends with Jim Hendrix and Janis Joplin!
Gordon helped turn Alice Cooper into a superstar, along with a wide variety of musicians and performers. Alice has some great anecdotes to share about their adventures…
Gordon also managed chefs such as Emeril Lagasse, ushering in the era of celebrity chefs on television!
Mike Myers spent twenty years persuading Gordon to let him tell his story. There is a poignant aspect to their relationship that is revealed in the film as well.
Oh, and Shep was a ladies man too…
This is a GREAT movie, and a fascinating look at the world of music, movies and HOLLYWOOD.
And let’s never forget that because of Shep we have this:
I LOVE Alice Cooper, and as a group and a solo performer, I could listen to classic songs like “I’m Eighteen” and “Elected” forever….which leads to this great movie that uses a Cooper tune:
Yes, the cult classic “Rock ‘n’ Roll High School” includes Alice Cooepr’s incendiary classic, “School’s Out!”
